Chroma’s Automated Test System (ATS) is designed for full function testing of ac level 1 and level 2 EVSE (Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment) defined by SAE J1772. The system integrates Chroma’s programmable ac sources to simulate the grid voltage variation. It controls the ac electronic load simulating the current loading state of an onboard charger. A switchable resistor board and oscilloscope are used to test compatibility of the control pilot signal between the EVSE and EV. Test items include voltage interrupt, pulse-width modulation (PWM) duty cycle, contact open, over current protection, etc. This ATS features open-architecture platform software, allowing users to expand test functions in the future.

Product Focus: Chroma’s EVSE Automated Test System
LED Driver Test Solutions
A Light Emitting Diode (LED), with its low power consumption, compact size, long life duration and versatility make it ideal for lighting and illumination applications. LEDs have found its applications in LCD monitor/TV backlights, street lighting, automobile lighting, interior lighting, outdoors large screen displays, consumer electronics and various other applications.
LED drivers are used to provide the power to the LEDs, and are usually designed as a constant current source due to the light emitting characteristics of the LEDs. Although LED drivers’ functions and characteristics differ from the general switch mode power supply (SMPS), the components used, the design topology and the testing requirements are very similar. Chroma is able to provide LED testing solution based on its twenty-five years of experience in providing power electronics testing solutions. These solutions include: Programmable AC and DC Sources, high precision Power Meters, and Electronic Loads specifically designed for LED drivers. Chroma is also able to provide Automated Test Systems suitable for R&D, QA qualifications and mass production.
Chroma’s 8000 ATS is Turnkey for EV/PHEV Testing
Chroma introduces versatility in Automated Test Systems by providing a full range hardware devices and software architecture for EV/PHEV related applications such as battery storage system, EVSE charger station, DC/DC converter unit and motor traction drivers. The power conversion areas of electric vehicles and charging stations are composed of several power electronic units. Chroma’s Automated Test Systems test the power electronics during the development phase as well as the production phase.
