Basic Hipot to Advanced Analyzers, We’ve Got you Covered

Hipot or dielectric withstand testers and analyzers manufactured by Chroma are used for conducting electrical safety tests on electrical components and products to verify compliance with IEC, UL, TUV, CSA, EN as well as complex medical safety testing to ensure human safety and product reliability. From the smallest standard AC hipot tester in the market to multi-test, high feature safety analyzers, we have a solution that’s right for you.
2 Year Warranty
New hipot and electronic safety test instruments (EST) purchased in North America are backed by a 2-year standard warranty.
Hipot Testers
The low-cost Sentry series provides 2 models to choose from. The Sentry 19071 is for AC 5kV Hipot testing and the Sentry 19073 combines both AC 5kV and DC 6kV Hipot with insulation resistance (IR) measurements into a single compact unit.
The Guardian 19052 is equipped for AC/DC Hipot testing and insulation resistance (IR) measurements. The Guardian 19053 combines both AC and DC Hipot tests and IR measurements with 8HV scan channel capabilities. Front panel operation, digital display, and user friendly controls allows test parameters and limits to be set easily without the high voltage activating.
The Guardian 19032 series combines Hipot, Insulation Resistance (IR), Ground Bond (GB), Leakage Current (LC)/AC LC/DC LC and Dynamic Function Tests. Space savings can be up to 50% of production line space, through not purchasing multiple safety test instruments. The 19032 is able to increase the efficiency of electrical safety testing during manufacturing and reduce associated labor costs.
Other Electrical Safety Testers
Guardian 19572 Ground Bond Tester
Wide resistance measurement range : 0.1 ~ 510 mΩ
Guardian 19055 Series Hipot Analyzer
AC/DC/IR 500VA tests + Corona Discharge Detection (CDD)
19020 Multi-Channel Hipot
AC/DC/IR – master/slave up to 100 channels simultaneously
19036 Wound Component EST Analyzer
5 in 1 (10 channels) composite analyzer(ACWV / DCWV/ IR / Impulse / DCR)
19031A Impulse Widing Tester
High/Low inductance test (0.1uH~100uH)
Medical Safety Test Systems
Sentinel II
The Sentinel II system provides fully automatic Electrical safety testing to IEC/EN/UL/CSA 60601-1. Sentinel II saves time by scanning patient connections for leakage current without powering down the medical device. The Sentinel II System can be configured to accommodate Class I, Class II, mains and Internally Powered medical devices with the following configurations:

  • Mains Power supply up to 4000VA, 0~300VAC @ 15~1kHZ
  • Up to 1 B-Type Patient Connection

500VA programmable AC Source: Automatically provides the capability to perform earth (line), enclosure or patient leakage current measurements at different mains voltages and frequencies. (can be upgraded to a 1000, 1500, 2000 or 4000VA AC Source)

CaptivATE software provides the Sentinel II System with the capability to create test sequences, capture data, bar code scanning of device model and serial number, and automatically recall test setups based upon model number. All test data is saved into a database for trending and analysis.

Application Note: Electrical Safety Testing 101
Let’s shed a little light on what exactly electrical safety testing (EST) is and how the various tests are performed. Electrical Safety Testing verifies product safety under simulated fault and/or material stress conditions. The goal is to test the product to its limitations to make sure that it can withstand the electrical conditions – not just the specifications it is built to but also the…
Application Note: A Practical Guide to Dielectric Testing
This application note looks at insulation resistance and dielectric testing, AC & DC Hipot testing, and some of the regulations that govern electrical safety testing (EST).

How to Use RF Impedance Measurements to Ensure the Quality of Miniaturized Power Inductors

Most high-frequency and miniaturized power inductors are metal molding-type inductors. The magnetic metal powder surfaces are usually treated with an oxide layer to reduce eddy current losses at high frequencies, enhancing the usable frequency range and reducing losses and temperature rising. However, users typically cannot determine the particle size of the magnetic material and the integrity of the oxide layer after molding and sintering through visual inspection alone.

Leveraging Certificate Management Tools for Comprehensive EVSE Plug & Charge (PnC) Testing

Chroma’s PowerPro 5 software, part of its comprehensive EV test system solution, features a Certificate Management Tool that allows users to load specific certificate files (*.p12, *.pem). Using designated OEM agreements and contract certificates, the software automatically performs public/private key encryption and decryption during the test to achieve the handshake and payment processes required for ISO 15118 PnC testing.
