63224A Series: Upgraded With Peak Power Capability

Product Specification Upgrade Notice

Chroma continues to invest in research and development as well as quality enhancement. To support greater flexibility and efficiency in AI server power testing applications, we are pleased to announce a significant upgrade to the operating capability of selected models in the programmable DC electronic load 63200A series, specifically the 63224A-150-2000 and 63224A-1200-960.

The key enhancement in this upgrade is the increased power capability:

  • For operation below 150V, the unit can sustain up to 2 times the rated average power for 100 ms, enabling a peak load of up to 48 kW.
  • For operation above 150V, the unit can sustain up to 1.3 times the rated average power for 100 ms, enabling a peak load of up to 31.2 kW.

To facilitate quick verification of applicable models and conditions, this document summarizes the relevant product models, operating conditions, and required firmware versions for achieving the enhanced functionality. Should you require assistance in verifying whether your existing equipment meets these requirements, or if you would like more comprehensive application guidance, please feel free to contact us at any time.

Specifications and Operating Conditions After Upgrade:

Model Voltage Current Power Peak Power Capability Duration
63224A-150-2000 0-150V 2000A 24kW 103% – 200% (48kW) 100ms
63224A-1200-960 0-150V 960A 24kW 103% – 200% (48kW) 100ms
63224A-1200-960 >150V-1,000V 960A 24kW 103% – 130% (31.2kW) 100ms

Note: The above specifications are applicable under the condition that the dynamic average power does not exceed 100% of the unit’s rated power at 25 °C. When the ambient temperature exceeds 25 °C, power derating protection will be activated, which may affect the peak power capability.

Note: The peak power loading duration must be less than 100 ms; otherwise, over-power protection will be triggered. For example, when operating at 135% of rated power, the duration (T1) must be ≤ 100 ms. Exceeding this limit will activate over-power protection.

Applicable Models, Starting Serial Numbers, and Firmware Versions:

Model Starting Serial Numbers (Inclusive) Firmware Version (Inclusive)
63224A-150-2000 Prior to 63220AL02870 FW 2.30 and above
63224A-1200-960 Prior to 63224AH03507 FW 2.30 and above

  • The above table lists the model versions and starting serial numbers applicable to this specification upgrade.
  • For products with serial numbers prior to the above range, please contact your local technical service representative if an upgrade to enable peak power capability is required.
